Tuesday, March 09, 2010 :: 2 Views :: Church, News, Announcements

St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church has been a member of the Oconomowoc community for 145 years.  It is located next to Fowler Lake, downtown.  The church serves the community through several outreach programs.  The mission of the church is “Reaching, Serving, & Growing Disciples.”  On May 1st, a dinner and auction will be held at Golden Mast Inn, on Okauchee Lake.

It is always a lively evening, with great deals for bargain hunting auction participants. Proceeds from this year’s auction will help provide tuition assistance for families with children attending St. Paul’s school, purchase of a new spelling curriculum, and provide new audio equipment for the church and an AED defibrillator for travel. Auction items are being accepted through April 15th

The silent auction begins at 5:30 PM with dinner and the live auction to follow.  Individual tickets for the event are $45 per person by April 16th or $50 per person by April 23rd

Friday Morning Women's Bible Study starts March 5!

There are many women mentioned in God's Word. In its pages we learn of their weaknesses and their strengths, their trials and their triumphs. Above all, we see God in His abundant grace forgiving, sustaining, and inspiring His beloved daughters for service in His name.

In this small-group Bible study, participants will look at the lives of only the most familiar women in God's Word. From Eve, the first woman, to those women who helped Jesus' apostles, participants will see God's grace in action as He calls and leads these women in their daily lives. Through their God-given faith and their faith-filled deeds, you will be inspired by these great women of the Bible.

Session 1: Eve
Session 2: Sarah
Session 3: Rebekah
Session 4: Leah and Rachel

Other sessions:  Jochebed and Miriam, Deborah, Ruth, Hannah, Michal, Abigail, Bathsheba, Jezebel, The Shunnamite, Esther, Mary, Mother of Jesus, Mary and Martha, Lydia, Lois and Eunice.

Classes start Friday March 5th, and will be every other Friday at 8:00am.  Each week will be a new session with a new individual, so if you can’t come to each one, no problem!  If you are interested, please contact Wendi Lombardo (262) 354-0211 or wendi@lombardolawoffice.com so that I know how many handouts to prepare.

Time to Grow Lenten Bible Study--PRAYER

On Wednesday evenings during Lent, we will be discussing prayer at Time to Grow. Our first adult Bible study will begin February 24 and will run through March 24. The study takes place from 6:20-7:20 p.m. Children 3 years through 12th grade will continue to meet in age-appropriate classes.

As disciples of Jesus, we are called to live by faith in a life of prayer. If we stop praying we fall asleep spiritually. We may still be spiritually alive, but we become unaware of God's gracious dealings with us. So He does His best to keep us awake and watchful in prayer. In everything that happens to us God is training us to become people of prayer, wakeful people who take Him at His Word and receive from Him His gifts. God is equipping His people who are sure that He withholds nothing good from us and all His creatures.
