The 8th grade year at St. Paul's is critical for leadership development, for the increased importance of establishing meaningful and respectful relationships and for a deeper understanding of where each student is at as a young Christian living in God's world today.
Our trip to South Dakota, falling on the third week of September annually, gives our students the chance to develop those leadership traits and to form stronger bonds with their teachers, the parent chaperones, with each other and, most importantly, with their Savior, Jesus.
The focus on team-bulding activities, camping and intensive Bible studies allows the kids to open up and grow.
Highlights of the trip include: Mt. Rushmore, Badlands hiking and camping, Custer State Park wildlife and camping, Harney Peak hike, tour of Wind Cave, group Bible study, team building and leadership activities, Wall Drug, Missouri River information and Lakota Museum stop, campfire meals, Evan's Plunge swimming, seeing God's majestic creation!
Throughout the year, different themes and topics will be covered in 'Dakota Time' classes as part of a curriculum that was started on the trip.
